Meet the heroesOn 2 January 2021, at Mount Wilson in the Blue Mountains, Jennifer Qi was swept into a whirlpool during a canyoning trip. Senior Constable Kelly Foster VA — an off-duty police officer with 15 years of service — went in after her without hesitation. Tragically, neither returned home.
Their story reached far beyond the canyon, touching communities across Australia and China. From profound loss grew a shared purpose: to honour courage, strengthen communities, and create a lasting legacy of care.
This foundation exists so that their story keeps saving lives — through relief for families in hardship, safety education for adventurers, and recognition for those who choose courage.

Kelly Foster is posthumously awarded the Gold Great Wall Commemorative Medal — the first of its kind — by the Chinese Ambassador in Canberra.
